You’re trusting this site with details about someone you love, on one of the hardest weeks of your life. Here is exactly how that trust is treated.

What stays on your device

As you fill out the form, your answers are saved automatically in your own browser’s local storage — on your device, not on our servers. That’s what lets you close the tab and come back without losing anything. Clearing your browser data removes it.

What we store, and for how long

• If you choose “save my progress and email me a link”, we store your answers on our server, tied to a private link only you receive. Unfinished saves are deleted automatically after 30 days.
• When an obituary is generated, we keep only your email address, the style you chose, and the date — so we can send your copy, and so we could one day check in gently. We do not keep the obituary itself or your form answers.

What we never do

• We never sell or share your information with anyone.
• We never send marketing email. You’ll get the obituary you asked for, a resume link if you request one, and nothing else without your say-so.
• We never show advertising on the form where you share personal details about your loved one.

The writing itself

Your answers are sent to Anthropic’s Claude, the AI service that helps put your words into flowing prose, solely to write your obituary. It is instructed — as the site’s single most important rule — to use only what you provided and never to invent a detail.
